The Museum

For a long time Husum Castle served as an official building for the region Nordfriesland, but today it has diverse cultural functions.

The Museum Association of Nordfriesland looks after the museum part of the castle, which can be found in the central wing of the building. Here you can trace the footsteps of the erstwhile dwellers of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf. The former living and bedchambers, the knight´s hall with its opulent fireplace depicting the mortal agony, the castle chapel and the royal box can all be visited.

Every year, there are also four touring special exhibitions where predominantly modern art from Schleswig-Holstein is exhibited. Many other special cultural events take place in the castle, including concerts, lectures and readings.

The remodelled castle gardens allow visitors to relax in a calm and peaceful atmosphere after their tour of the castle.

If your tour of the castle has made you curious about its history, you can find books and literature in the museum shop, as well as many interesting souvenirs.

The kitchen wing of the castle is now home to the stylish Castle Café. Treat yourself to delicious snacks and drinks.
