The Museum
The Nordsee Museum, housed in the Nissenhaus, formerly known as Nordfriesisches Museum is devoted to the many aspects of the cultural and unspoiled natural area of the North Sea coast. Touring exhibitions, lectures and other special events supplement the extensive repetoire on offer.
In 2007 the museum was fundamentally remodelled and refurbished. Particular attention was paid to a family -friendly design. Parents and children can discover together and try out a wide range of activities.
Take time to browse in our museum shop. Here visitors can find literature on the North Sea and reference books on the themes of the exhibitions as well as tasteful accessories and various souvenirs to suit every budget.
Office parties, conventions or slide shows – the museum boasts a lecture room which seats 100. Many different events can be held here in a historical ambience, which ensures any party will be an unforgettable experience. We are pleased to offer guided tours of the exhibitions to enhance any event.
Incidentally, the Nissenhaus is also home to the public library and Café Brütt.
