Coastal protection
Halligs and dyke construction
The North Friesian Coast is shaped by low and high tides. The people living here have been building dwelling mounds and dykes for a thousand years to protect themselves from the storm tides.
The Nordsee Museum offers not only a brand new exhibition on this subject, but also a morning spent working on a project. Each child can build a model of a dwelling mound or a dyke to take away as a souvenir.
